Carroll Winford Rowden age 91, of Evansville, Indiana passed away on November 23, 2022 at Cypress Grove Rehabilitation Center in Newburgh, Indiana. Carroll was born in Izard County, Arkansas on February 1, 1931, the son of the late Erlene (Garner) Rowden and Gregory Rowden.

He served in the United States Army for eight years. Carroll was a tank commander and on the Army basketball team and enjoyed touring Europe. He was a member of the VFW Post 2953. After his active service, Carroll continued to serve in the color guard, traveling to Grayville, Illinois, to do funerals for other veterans. Carroll was an over the road truck driver for 35 years with a perfect driving record and after retirement he continued to drive locally for five years. He could drive anywhere in the US or Canada and never use a map. He loved his CB radio, cowboy boots and hat! He enjoyed motorcycles, yard work, cowboy movies and Carroll liked sports especially Indiana University basketball. He also loved watching his sons and grandsons play football, basketball and lacrosse.

Carroll is survived by his wife of 65 years this December 18th, Phyllis Ann (DeJarnett) Rowden of Evansville, IN; his daughter, Carol Ann Riffert (Jeff) of Dallas, TX; his two sons, Gregory Rowden and Mark Rowden (Jennifer) both of Evansville, IN; his grandchildren, Hayden Rowden of Elberfeld, IN, Jeston Riffert of Dallas, TX and Oliver Rowden of Evansville, IN; and his sister, Lawanna Jane Baird of Concord, CA.

Carroll was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Michael Rowden; and sister, Billie Joyce Craig.

A celebration of Carroll's life will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 with Chaplain Neal Hartzell officiating. The Retired Veterans Memorial Club will perform military honors. Burial will follow at Zion Cemetery in Elberfeld, Indiana. Friends may visit from 11:00 until service time on Tuesday
