Beulah Monroe Quarnberg, Scipio passed away peacefully on Friday, November 18, 2022, at the age of 94.
Beulah was born to Irvin G. Monroe and Virga Olsen Monroe on July 9, 1928. She was the fourth of five children.
Beulah grew up the daughter of a farmer and cattleman, she learned the meaning of hard work from her father whether it be on the ranch or in the home. Her mother taught her love, compassion and how to be a wonderful homemaker, baker and cook.
She attended elementary school in Scipio and graduated from Millard High School in 1945. At MHS she was a member of the pep club and enjoyed attending all the sporting events. She adored the members of her graduating class and stayed in close contact with many of them throughout the years.
Beulah married the love of her life, Sheldon Thompson Quarnberg on September 12, 1946, this was shortly after he returned from his service in World War II. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple on March 5, 1965. Beulah adored her sweetheart, she and Sheldon started dating when Beulah was in her early teens and were married for 68 years until Sheldon passed on January 3, 2015. Throughout their life they spent every possible minute together. Beulah and Sheldon had 5 children Sherma, Kasey, Jon, Jan, and Matt. Beulah dearly loved her family and cherished every moment she spent with them. She was often considered the "favorite" grandma, aunt, cousin to many.
After the birth of the 3rd and 4th (twins) of her 5 children Beulah decided to attend cosmetology school in Salt Lake City at Hollywood Beauty College. Moving to the city while raising a young family and attending cosmetology school presented several challenges but she was determined and accomplished her goal. After graduating and returning to Scipio she opened a beauty shop in her home where she spent 53 years cutting, combing, and styling many generations of hair. Beulah loved being in her shop, she took great pride in being a talented beautician. She cherished the relationships it created and considered it time well spent with friends. She was 80 years old when she finally booked her last appointment.
Being married to Sheldon also made her the wife of a farmer and rancher and with that came all the rewards and challenges of that livelihood, she took all of that in stride and was a great support to Sheldon.
Beulah and Sheldon were always busy with projects. They spent hours crafting, quilting, and remodeling together. They created treasures that their legacy will cherish for years to come. Beulah also took great pride in having a beautiful and bountiful garden along with a well-manicured yard. She loved sitting on her deck with family and friends, admiring the beauty that she and Sheldon had created. These moments were made even sweeter with a Pepsi and something she had just baked.
Beulah was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, she loved her Savior and enjoyed studying the Gospel. She was always willing to serve and accept a call. She served in multiple Relief Society, Young Women and Primary presidencies. One of her most cherished callings was when she and Sheldon served as missionaries at Cove Fort.
Beulah loved her home and loved everything about Scipio. She lived in Scipio most of her life only leaving for a year to attend cosmetology school and three years while Sheldon worked on the Geyser Ranch in Nevada. The people of Scipio have always been wonderful to Beulah, and she was always proud to tell everyone she was from Scipio.
Beulah is survived by her daughter Sherma Turner (Marvin), Venice; sons Kasey (Mary Ann), Lindon; Jon (Kathy C), Annabella; Jan (Kathy R), Annabella and Matt (Kara), South Weber. Fourteen grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren and 19 great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by Sheldon, her parents, brothers Jack, Neil and Dix Monroe, sister Beth Fernelius and granddaughter Tana Quarnberg.
The family would like to express their gratitude to all of Beulah's family members and dear friends that have always shown Beulah so much love and tenderness. She always had so much love to give and so many gave it back, THANK YOU.
