Dewey Gibson Keene, 90 of Baytown, Texas passed on the morning of November 21, 2022 surrounded by his loving family at his home he built in Old River, TX.

Dewey was born to George William Keene and Maggie Mae Gibson, May 11, 1932, in New London, Texas in the Humble Camp. He married Carmen Margarita Koonce, his Alvin high school sweetheart in 1952 after their 1952 high school graduation and they raised 4 children.

He is survived by his wife, Carmen Koonce Keene; son, Richard Keene and wife, Tamara of Crosby, TX; daughter, Jaunita Davis of Elgin, TX; son, Douglas Keene and wife, Ruth of Spicewood, TX; Catherine Woerner and husband Brad of Baytown, TX; grandchildren, Jared Keene and wife, Whitney of Mont Belvieu TX; Ashley Petterson and husband, Brian of Kingwood, TX; Lisa Nicholson and husband, Matt of Frisco, TX; April Ponder and husband, Jake of Mont Belvieu, TX; Alicia Keene of Spicewood, TX; Taylor Keene of Eastanollee, GA; Brandon Keene of Crosby, TX; and 9 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Maggie Mae (Gibson) Keene; brothers William Keene, Drew Keene; and sisters, Molly Belle Smith, Mattie Mae Wells, and Freda Kincaide; husband of daughter, Juanita Davis.

Dewey worked as an Operations Supervisor for ExxonMobil in Baytown, TX for 31 years. He enjoyed family foremost, but he thoroughly enjoyed watching and rooting for the University of Texas Longhorns sporting events, Houston Astros, Houston Texans, many years of motorhome traveling after retiring from ExxonMobil at 50 years of age, hunting and fishing especially for catfish & gigging for flounders, early days picnicking with his wife before children, camping in the hill country, loved watching western movies and reading in his recliner while the world passed by, but his relished favorites were his wife of 70 years and his best friend JACK.

A visitation for Dewey will be held Thursday, December 1, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Earthman Baytown Funeral Home, 3919 Garth Road, Baytown TX 77521 with the chapel service starting at 11:00 am. A committal service will follow at 1:00 PM at Earthman Memory Gardens Cemetery, 8624 Garth Road, Baytown, TX 77521. Pastor Jaime Lea will officiate the ceremony.

The family would like to thank some very special private caregivers during his time of critical illness from Teresa Glass, Marva Skeen, Shawna Fuselier and others from the Visiting Angels. The family would also like to thank Dr. Irfan Daddabhoy from Houston Methodist Primary Care group for his special attention to Dewey over many years.

The family appreciates the following pallbearers that are honored to help: Jared Keene, Brandon Keene, Brad Woerner, Matt Nicholson, Brian Petterson, and Jake Ponder.
