James D. Baedke, age 72, passed away on November 18, 2022 after a long battle with kidney failure. A visitation for James will be held Wednesday, November 23, 2022 from 4 - 6 PM at Ankeny Funeral Home, followed by a time of remembrance at 6 PM. A private family graveside will take place at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery at a later date.

Jim was born on May 19, 1950 in Pomeroy, Iowa to Donald and Darlene (Derschied) Baedke. He served in the United States Air Force during Vietnam, from 1968-1972. It was here he met his wife Lynda and they were united in marriage in 1969. 

Jim worked for Schumacher Elevator for many years, retired from there and Worked for the State of Iowa as an Inspector of Elevators and amusement rides. Jim would have had 50 years in the Elevator trade service as of January 2023.

Jim enjoyed doing home improvements and was always willing to help others. He will be missed for his sense of humor and ability to make others laugh. 

He is survived by his wife Lynda Baedke; children, April (Bret) Albaugh, Tonya Schlieman; grandchildren, Layne Mathis, Zaida Williams, Logan & Justin Schlieman and Brandon & Taylor Albaugh; siblings, Steve, Greg, Roger, Phyllis, Mary, and Barb; and many other family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Julie.
