Tim was raised on his family's farm and was an avid learner. A graduate of Monache High School in Porterville, California, Saint Mary's College with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology. In addition he obtained an AA degree from College of the Sequoias and an AA degree from Cochese College studying intelligence. He fufilled a childhood dream when he joined the United States Army in April of 2005 after graduating from college. Through the Army he had received the associate degree in intelligence and had also learned some Arabic language so he could communicate with the people he came in contact with. He always carried several pens with him while in Iraq, as the children there were always asking him for pens to do their homework with. Tim had joined the military in hopes of someday becoming an FBI agent. Currently assigned to the 2nd Squadron, 14th Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division, based at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. He was killed along with 3 other soldiers when their vehicle encountered an improvised explosive device in Taji, Iraq. A young man who loved his parents deeply, he not only wanted to protect Americans -- he also cared for Iraqis and wished to see stability restored to them. Martin's family received a purple heart, a bronze star, gold star lapel buttons, a memorial silver sable and gold spurs at his funeral. Tim is survived by his parents, Anthony and Lucy and a sister Alise. He was preceded in death by his sister Bryna, whom he was buried alongside. Bio by: Sue
