KANSAS CITY -- Clyde A. Giddens, 83, Kansas City, formerly of Frazer, Mo., died Sunday, February 5, 1995, at a Kansas City hospital.
For 33 years, Mr. Giddens had been a welder and an assembler for Columbian Steel Tank Co. in Kansas City, Kan., retiring in 1974. Before that, he had farmed in Frazer.
Born in Buchanan County, Mo., on Jan. 30, 1912, he moved from Frazer to Kansas City in 1941. He graduated from Gower, Mo., high school and Government Welding School in St. Joseph.
Mr. Giddens was a member of the Frazer Baptist Church and Lykins Golden Age Club. He attended the Independence Avenue Baptist Church, Kansas City.
In 1932, he married Goldie Tyler. She survives of the home.
Mr. Giddens was preceded in death by a son, Jerry; a sister, Bessie Amos; and a brother, Norman.
Additional Survivors: two daughters, Joyce Hatchette and Jane Giddens, both of Kansas City; two grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.
Service: 11 a.m. Thursday, Baptist Church, Frazer. Burial: Frazer Cemetery. Family visitation: 6 to 8:30 tonight, Blackmans's Funeral Home, Kansas City, and 6 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Gower.

Clyde Argyle Giddens was born on January 30, 1912 to Ransom and Martha Jane (Ottinger) Giddens in Buchanan County, Missouri. He graduated from Gower High School and Government Welding School in St. Joseph, Missouri. In 1932 he married the former Goldie Tyler and in 1941 they moved to Kansas City, Missouri. Clyde was a farmer near Frazier until moving to Kansas City where he worked as a welder and complex assembler for 33 years at Columbian Steel Tank Company in Kansas City, Kansas until his retirement in 1974.
Clyde was a member of the Frazier Baptist Church and attended Independence Avenue Baptist Church in Kansas City. He was also a member of Lykins Golden Age Club.
Clyde was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Giddens, a sister, Bessie Amos and a brother, Norman Giddens.
He is survived by his wife, Goldie Giddens of the home; a daughter, and son-in-law, Joyce and Bud Hatchette, and a daughter, Jane Giddens all of Kansas City; granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Berna Sue and Mike Casper of Kansas City; a grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Cliff and Jamie Hatchette of Lee's Summit; three great granddaughters, Caitlin, Cassidy and Caycee Hatchette all of Lee's Summit; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
