Joe grew up in the Broken Arrow, Oklahoma area and graduated from Broken Arrow High School. He joined the Air National Guard and later worked at Zebco and then retired from American Airlines. He had many friends and enjoyed spending time with his family. His favorite hobbies included camping, hunting and fishing, and he also enjoyed spending the afternoons watching NASCAR races, especially Mark Martin.
