Betty L. Sager, 86, of Excelsior Springs died peacefully on November 11, 2022 with her daughters by her side. Betty was born on January 4, 1936, to Floyd and Marie (Kreutzer) Arnold in Leavenworth, Kansas. On April 11, 1955 she married Richard Sager. They were married 66 years. Betty had many names through the years. She was Boopie to her siblings, cousins, nieces and nephews. She was Mom to her children until she became a Granny. She was called Granny by most who knew her except for a few family rebels who called her Mamaw, Nana or Mimi. No matter what they called her, she loved those grands, greats and great greats and they loved her, as is evident from their tributes to her on Facebook. Granny was a homemaker her whole adult life. She was known for her tell it like it is attitude. There is no way to put into words what she meant to all of us. She and Dad raised us right and we will move forward together with the lessons they taught us. Granny was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church. There she was a member of the Divine Stitchers where she shared her love of quilting with many. She also loved cross-stitching, knitting, crocheting and smocking. When her children were young she made nearly everything they wore. Her grandchildren remember fondly having Back to School fashion shows on her deck where they modeled what she had made for them. Granny is survived by her daughters, Gail (Jim) Colvin and Shanon (David) Colvin of Excelsior Springs, and her son, Doug (Dawn) Sager of Commerce City, Colorado. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Meg (Mark), Aimie, Shea (Scott), Monica, Erin (Royce), Byron (Mary Kate), Leslie, Brent (Charles), Amanda (Richard), and Jake (Caci); 17 great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and "adopted children". She is also survived by her sister, Janet Smith (Jake) of Leavenworth. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; her son, Brian; great grandaughter, Dakota; her parents; her sisters, Elsie Roberts and Shirley Smith; and her brother, Genie Arnold. Granny always told her grandkids that there were to be no tears at her funeral. Rather, she wanted them to line the way from the church to the cemetery and "moon" the hearse as she went by. Visitation will be held from 6 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, November 16, 2022 with Rosary at 5:30 p.m. at Bross & Spidle Funeral Home, 217 W. Broadway, Excelsior Springs, MO. Funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m., Thursday, November 17, 2022 at St. Ann Catholic Church with burial following at Hillcrest Cemetery, Excelsior Springs, MO.
