John Paxton Lister, 77 of St. Simons Island, GA., formerly of Atlanta, passed away October 21, 2002 after a long illness. Son of Noah Edward Lister and Lillian Mae Dann Lister, he was predeceased by his wife, Josephine C. Lister. He is survived by daughters, Carole Lister Smith of St. Simons; Jan Lister of Atlanta; sons, John (Elly) and Tony of Wilmington, NC; brother, Tom of Eastman, GA; and sisters, Susan, Kathleen, Josephine and Phyllis, grandchildren, Caroline, Wendy, Zoe, and Vinny, four great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He was a distinguished member of Toastmasters for 40 years, having served as International Director. Before moving to St. Simons where he was a member of St. Williams Catholic Church, he was an usher at Sacred Heart Church in Atlanta. The funeral will be conducted at Oglethorpe Hill on Thursday, October 24th at 2:00 p.m. with interment to follow at Arlington Memorial Park in Atlanta. H.M.
