Emma Kristina Svensdotter was born 17 Nov 1872 in Almundsryd (parish or town), Kronoberg County, Sweden to Sven Johannesson/Johansson & Hanna Johansdotter. Unfortunately, she was the only child surviving to adulthood of this union. Her mother did remarry after her father's passing in 1877.

Emma departed Urshult, Kronoberg County 3 Mar 1896, and the emigration records stated she was bound for Wakefield, MI. She married Olof Herman Ahlquist 14 Feb 1903, with the marriage recorded in both Bessemer and Ironwood, Gogebic, Michigan. They had four children, the youngest (Lillian) is mentioned in Olof's brother's son's obituary (Oscar).

Her uncle and many cousins were residing in Nadeau, Menominee County, MI & Foster City, Dickinson County, MI by 1910-1920, as well as younger cousins who settled in Chicago, Cook, IL.
