She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Castle Wilhide, who died in 2005. She was graduated as a Registered Nurse in 1945 from the Hospital for the Women of Maryland and then became an airline nurse flight attendant with Eastern Airlines. She married Glenn C. Wilhide, Jr., West Point Class of 1948, in December of 1948, and travelled with him throughout his Army career.

They retired to Litchfield, Connecticut in 1997. She, with Mrs Peggy Brent, co-founded the Connecticut Volunteer Service for the Blind and Handicapped Recording Program which began in 1974. She remained active with them until 1988. After Glenn retired from his second job, and at Kit's suggestion, they sold their home, put their belongings in storage, and moved to southern Germany for two wonderful years. They returned to settle in Durham, New Hampshire, for over ten years where Kit continued to be active in volunteer work. In 2002, she and Glenn moved to Colorado Springs to be near family.

She is survived by three children, Mrs. Michael Maixner, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Mr. Glenn C. Wilhide, III, of Mansfield Center, Connecticut , and Mr. David Wilhide of Colorado Springs. Also four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
