Arnold John (Arnie) Wiskus, 84, of Dedham, passed away November 12th, 2022, peacefully in his sleep at home.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Saturday, November 19, 2022, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Dedham. The Celebrant will be Fr. Kevin Richter assisted by Deacon Louis Meiners. Music will be by Cindy Bauer and the St. Joseph's Choir. Gift Bearers will be Arnie's grandchildren. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, in Dedham, with military honors conducted by the Dedham American Legion.

Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. on Friday at Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll. A Christian Wake Service will be at 7 p.m. Additional visitation will be from 9-9:45 a.m. on Saturday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left at the funeral home or the church for Arnold Wiskus family for a later designation.

Funeral arrangements are under the guidance of Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll.

Arnie was born on September 11, 1938, on the family farm North of Dedham, Iowa. The son of Joe B. Wiskus and Theresa (Bauer) Wiskus. He grew up on the farm and attended the old Dedham school. He received his GED while serving in the Army.

Arnie served in the US Army from February 1959 until January 1961. He was stationed at Ft. Richardson, Alaska - 562nd Engineer Division.

On November 6, 1965, Arnie was united in marriage with Phyllis Mae Lenz at Holy Family Catholic Church in Lidderdale. They made their home on the family farm in Dedham. To this union were born six children.

Arnie served on both the School and Church Boards at various times. He enjoyed playing fast-pitch softball, he was known across the state as a talented pitcher for the Dedham Merchants. Arnie and Phyllis enjoyed many years of Card Club with close friends. Farming and raising cattle kept him busy, but he always made time to attend the kid's and grandkid's games and activities.

Arnie is preceded in death by his beloved wife, of 53 years, Phyllis; his parents Joe B. and Theresa Wiskus; and siblings Marvin, Eugene, Jerome, LaVerne and Theresa.

He is survived by his children: Marilyn (Roger); Mark (Christine); Brian (Donnell); Alan (Amanda); Gary (Amy); Todd (Mary Beth); and thirteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild; siblings, Arlene, Arvilla, JoAnn (Roman), Kate (Don), Bob (Gay), and Kenny (Deb); In-Laws, Dean (Joyce), Maury (Eileen), Merle (Mary Rose), and Ray.
