Mr. Vernon Anderson Boucher, age 87, of Blackshear died Saturday afternoon at the Satilla Regional Medical Center following an extended illness.

He was a native of Eupora, Mississippi, but had lived most of his life in Merritt Island, Florida, before moving to Pierce County, GA in 2006.

He was preceded in death by his parents George W. Boucher and Candice Easterwood Boucher.

Mr. Boucher retired from the U.S. Navy as a Sr. Chief Petty Officer in 1962. He also retired from the Federal Aviation Agency and Space Boosters Inc. at the Kennedy Space Center. He was a member of the Ground Control Approach Association during his military career. He attended Love in Action Ministry in Blackshear.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years Marie Boucher of Blackshear, a daughter Sheila Stewart of Blackshear, Ronnie Boucher wife Janis of Sylvania, 3 grandsons Randy Boucher of Savannah, Ga., Troy Stewart, Jr. wife Marie of Perry, Ga., Keith Stewart wife Lyn of Dallas, Ga., 4 great grandsons, and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

A graveside service will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday afternoon at the Georgia Veteran's Memorial Cemetery in Glennville, Ga.
