"Alex" was the brother of Boyn Zumwalt.From Roswell (NM) Register-Tribune, 22 Mar 1911 and 19 May 1911:

Alex and his brother Will were involved in a shoot-out with brothers, Thomas and Edward Hall, five miles northwest of Kenna, NM on 26 Mar 1911. Both of the Hall boys were killed. Alex and Will were held on a second-degree murder charge. Both were acquited. Shortly after the incident both of the Zumwalt brothers and their families moved from Chaves County, NM, to Silver City NM. He was survived by four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
