Norman Choate of Detroit, returned home Wednesday evening, having been called here on account of the funeral of his father Dr. Choate.

Choate- In Three Rivers, May 20, 1893, Dr. S.P. Choate, aged 86 years and 9 months.

Dr S.P. Choate was born in Rutland county, Vermont, August 21, 1806. At the age of seventeen years he went to Genesee county, N.Y. where he taught school four winters, from which place he went to Batavia, clerked in a drug store and studied medicine with Dr. Coats, graduating in 1836. At the age of 24, he married Miss Maria Stocking, moving to Michigan in 1839, Three Rivers being the place he has since resided. To their union were born three children, George, Harriet, and Fannie, two of whom are living. Their union was servered by her death, in 1845. In 1848 he married to Miss Susan A. cole and to them were born two children, Nellie and Norman. Mr. Choate, during his long residence here has made many friends. He was a relative of the distinguished Rufus Choate. The funeral took place at this late residence, Thursday afternoon, May 23, burial in Riverside Cemetery, Rev. J.S. Montgomery officiating.
