Mr. Frank Elwood Shinault, Sr., 58, of Salem, passed away on Friday, February 22, 2008 in the loving arms of his wife. He was born on July 29, 1949 in Lynchburg, Va. He was the son of Lillian Atkins Foutz of Roanoke. Frank retired after 24 years of service from Norfolk Southern Railroad as a conductor. He was a member of House of Prayer Church in Roanoke. Frank served our country in the United States Army and he was a member of the Disabled American Veterans. He was also a member of the Disabled American Veterans. Two of his favorite things in life were his church and his family. In addition to his mother, Frank is survived by his wife, son, daughter, two stepsons, two stepdaughters, a brother, two sisters, eleven grandchildren, a faithful and loving companion, his cat, Terry; and a number of nieces and nephews. A celebration of life service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, February 26, 2008 at the House of Prayer Church in Roanoke, with Pastor Gary Butcher officiating. Cremation will follow. The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at John M. Oakey & Son, Salem.
