She was a 35-year resident of in Chattanooga where she lived since 1971. She graduated from Berry High School and Berry College in 1940 in Rome, GA. She was a home economics teacher and was a member of the Chickamauga Garden Club. She had been a volunteer at Memorial Hospital in the early founding years, having served over eight hundred hours in the sewing room. She was a member of Chickamauga Presbyterian Church. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Lloyd, Linton, Ira, and Clarence Murphy; and two sisters, Irene Addison and Ruth Holden. Survivors include her husband, Melvin M Conner; daughter, Ms. Joseph E Brown; grandchildren, Joey Brown of Chickamauga, and Maria Key of Greenville, SC; and two great-grandchildren, Laura Lee and Julia Brown of Chickamauga.
