Martin Davis passed away on Friday, October 28, 2022 in Bainbridge, NY at the age of 90. He was brought into this world by his loving parents, Lillian (Schnall) and Hyman Davis of the Bronx, NY on June 18, 1932. He would spend much of his teen years being raised by his grandparents, Ida and David Davis; enjoying countless hours of popular street games such as boxball, pitching pennies and of course, stickball. In the words of his brother Steve, seven years his junior: "Marty was truly the batting champ of DeKalb Avenue. He'd hit 3-sewer homers - no one even came close to that." Not surprisingly, his childhood idol was none other than Joe DiMaggio of the NY Yankees. More often than not during home-stands, he was known to skip school and park himself in the centerfield bleachers in order to get a close-up view of Joe D in action. This truancy would cost him an extra semester at DeWitt Clinton, his high school alma mater, in which Marty would brag: "4 and a half is better than 5."

He'd soon be drafted into the U.S. Army during the Korean War, serving stateside in both Kentucky and Washington D.C., reaching the rank of Corporal. Afterwards, he would utilize the G.I. Bill to attend night school at NYU, graduating with a Bachelor's Degree in International Business. His dear Aunt Blanche would bring him on-board at her place of employment to learn first-hand, the ins and outs of running a business. During this time, he would be introduced to, and fall head over heels for Marge Scozzafava; eventually marrying a few years later, while settling into the Flatbush section of Brooklyn. Over the next four years, sons David and Daniel were born, along with a bankruptcy or two in tow. With a third son Paul on the way, it would necessitate a move to Marge's hometown of Croton-on-Hudson where they would eventually raise their sons.

His greatest career move was with 3M Company, where over the next few decades, he would become one of their top audio/visual salesmen in the country, earning numerous awards bringing him to such places as Scotland and Hawaii to receive such accolades. Accepting an offer for early retirement, he and Marge began wintering in New Smyrna Beach, Florida where they would bond with many other snowbird couples, creating lasting memories.

A few years after Marge's passing in 2012, he found happiness once again by creating a bond with fellow snowbird Beverly. They would spend the next 8 years together, splitting their time between Maine and Hilton Head, SC. This past summer, Marty returned to New York, spending much missed time with his family upstate.

He is survived by his loving family: David of Southampton, NY, Daniel (Macie) and Paul (Theresa) of Bainbridge, NY, his grandchildren Colleen (Paul Jenkins), Casey, Jillian, Anthony and Great Grandson Easton, all of Bainbridge, NY. Additionally, he is survived by his brother Stephen (Linda) of Staten Island, in-laws Rose (Norman Villeneuve) of Croton, and Frank Scozzafava of Hinesville, Georgia.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 2 from 10 am – 12 pm at Edward F. Carter Funeral Home, 41 Grand St. Croton-on-Hudson followed by graveside service at Bethel Cemetery in Croton.

In lieu of flowers, anyone wishing to make a memorial contribution in Martin's name can be mailed to: Hospice and Palliative Care of Chenango County, 33-39 Court St., Norwich, NY 13815.
