Butch Balderson formally of Laurel, MD passed away on Saturday, July 16, 2022. Butchs' outgoing personality and leadership skills led him to a long career at Giant Food Co. as a District Manager in the MD, VA and Washington, DC areas. After retiring, Butch spent his years in Surfside Beach, SC with his wife of 64 years and enjoyed golf, gardening, the beach and going on road trips in his RV. Butch was an avid Redskin football team fan and traveled to 5 Super Bowls. He is preceded in death by his lifelong love and wife, Barbara J. Balderson; his parents, Thurl D. Balderson Sr. and Myrtle Balderson; his sisters, Peggy Earley and Patsy Landreth and a nephew. Surviving are his children, David T. Balderson (Tina) of Murrells Inlet, SC; Susan E. Austin (Dave) of Myrtle Beach, SC; Michael E. Balderson of Milton, Delaware and Carolyn J. Ballantyne of Sykesville, MD; 7 grandchildren, Jesse (Jody), Nikki (Tyler), David (Erica), Cory, Kyle, Cole and Melissa; 6 great grandchildren, Jackson, Jemma, Jase, Bryson, Addison and Isabelle and many nieces, nephews and friends. A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, August 18, 2022 at 2 pm at the chapel in Hillcrest Cemetery, Conway, SC. We will be honoring both Butch and Barbara Balderson whom brought love, family and friendship to many. In lieu of flowers a donation to St. Judes Childrens hospital would fulfill their love of children..
