On August 25, 1933 she married Tilvert Iverson. Six children were born into this union. When they were first married they lived in various places, but finally settled on a farm/ranch nine miles northwest of Isabel. Stella worked hard along side her husband to make ends meet. In December 1949 Tilvert moved his family to Isabel. In 1955 the family moved to Mobridge and in 1959 they moved to Selby and ran a café until 1962 and then they moved to Mound City and ran a grocery store. In 1965 they moved to Eagle Butte. Stella worked at the super Valu, school and Ben Franklin. Tilvert passed away in 1976.
On October 23, 1979 she married John Opsahl in Mobridge. She moved to John's farm 5 miles northwest of Carpenter, SD. She loved to see things grow, so she raised a big garden every year. John passed away in 2004 and Stella moved back to Mobridge and lived across the street from her daughter. The last few months she was in failing health. She entered the Golden Living Center in Mobridge on October 26, 2007 where she passed away December 16, 2007.
Stella was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Stella was best known for her smile. No matter how sick she was, she always had a smile.
Grateful for having her as a mother are Jeanne (John) Badure, Mobridge, SD, Jerald (Marilyn) Iverson, Fergus Falls, MN, Rodney (Andi) Iverson, Aberdeen, SD, Stella (Dale) Brewer, Eagle Butte, SD and Debra (Kent) Mjelde, Erskine, MN. Sixteen grandchildren, twenty five great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by both husbands, one daughter at birth, her parents, two grandsons, three sisters, three brothers and four nieces.
Casketbearers are Stella's Grandchildren; Jess Brewer, Marlyn Badure, Tom Iverson, Mark Badure, Brett Pederson and Terry Carlson.
Funeral services will be Thursday, December 20, 2007 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Mobridge. Pastor Doug Westerlund will be officiating. Burial will be at Hillsview Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge.
