Pastor Charles Edward Ashley, Sr., 54, of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, passed away on June 27, 2021.

He was born on July 25, 1966 in Grady AR.

Charles accepted Christ at an early age. At the age of 25, he accepted his calling under the leadership of Superintendent Edward Gaston. He labored in the ministry up until his earthly departure. Elder Charles Ashley made a vow to the Lord! As 1 Corinthians 15:58 reads, "Therefore, my beloved Brethren, be ye steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord. For as much as ye know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord"

He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Ashley Jr.

Charles is survived by his wife, Paula D. Johnson-Ashley; one son, Charles Ashley, Jr.; three grandchildren: Bryson of Pine Bluff, AR, Kennedi of Pine Bluff, AR, and Malia of Pine Bluff, AR; his mother, Lula Mae Lewis-Ashley; three brothers: Willie Lewis (Connie) of Pine Bluff, AR, Lavell Ashley (Brenda) of Crossett, AR, and Lee Wesley Ashley (Lena) of Grady, AR; four sisters: Marilyn Taggart (Larry) of Grady, AR, Ruby Parks (Rodney) of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Evelyn Akins (Clevester) of Pine Bluff, AR, and Vivian Boyles of Little Rock; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends.

The funeral services will be held in Damascus Missionary Baptist Church, 10200 Hwy 65B, Grady, AR 71644 with Elder Henry Hellums officiating. The internment services will be held at Lincoln Memorial Lawn, Varner, AR.
