Served both WWI 652210 and WWII A550332. James was born on lot 35 Conc 3 of Bruce Twp, twin to Jack, sons of James Thompson and Christina [McSween] Jack and another brother Roderick both served WWI. James attended school at USS #16 and joined the 160th Bruce Bttn at Tiverton on March 24th, 1916. Trained at Walkerton and London, ON before sailing on the Metagama on October 17 along with many others from this area. Glammis Then and Now "While overseas, he joined the 4th Machine Gun Battalion and saw service in Belgium, France, and Germany." Jim also came down with mumps, myalgia while in England. To France 7 May 1918 and was wounded 'negligently self-inflicted' 6 Nov 1918. He was discharged medically fit at Toronto April 3rd, 1919. September 28th, 1940 Jim joined the 2nd Battalion, the Perth Regiment (MG) R.F. at #10 Basic Training Centre, Kitchener, ON and spent six months there. April 4th, 1941 he was discharged at Toronto. James married M. Elma [MacPherson] in February 1927. They had two sons Donnie and Jack. James opened a car dealership with his brother, Roderick, in Paisley and later ran the successful Mt. Pleasant Motors in Toronto"
