Born May 22, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Madeline Summers. She was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Hamilton, brothers Paul and Walter Summers, and son-in-law, Richard Kaufman.
Edie enjoyed working, spending many years at Price Electric. In retirement, she continued to work at grocery stores, up until the past few years of her life, including in the deli at Weis Markets at Spring Ridge where she will be remembered by many special co-workers. She enjoyed people and would know someone everywhere she went. She remained active with her Frederick High School graduating class of 1951. She also enjoyed bingo and traveling.
Edie leaves behind a daughter Kathy Kaufman, and son, Brian Hamilton; 4 grandchildren; Kelly Lookingbill and husband Matt, Bradley Hamilton, Danielle Hamilton Gregory and husband, Collin, and Chad Hamilton and wife, Meg and 2 great-grandchildren, Ryan Lookingbill and Saylor Gregory. She is also survived by 2 sisters, Nellie Redmond and Helen Main, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Edie will be remembered by special friends Ruth and Ed Frankenberg, Janet Michaels, John Boyce and her Amvets Post 2 family and friends.
A memorial service is being planned by the family and will be announced at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Edie's church, Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church 9411 Baltimore Rd. Frederick, MD 21704.
