LAST RITES HELD FOR CORNELIUS DOWNES

Funeral services were held Wednesday for Cornelius w. Downes, 63, who died Christmas Eve at his ranch home between Angels Camp and Vallecito after a short illness. A native of Alabama, he had been a farmer almost all of his life. Deceased is survived by two sons, Gary Downes of Richmond and J. D. Downes of Washington; four daughters, Mrs. Arles Huckaby and Miss Leona Downes of Angels Camp, Mrs Maida Wilkinson of Vallecito and Mrs Ozella Acre of Arkansas; two sisters, Mrs Jettie Sartin of Angels Camp and Mrs Viola Dees of Texas; a brother, Gentry Downes of Oklahoma and 11 grandchildren. Services were held at the Bigelow Mortuary chapel in Angels Camp with Rev. Hoffman of Stockton officiating. Interment was made in Buena Vista Cemetery, Murphys.
