Mary Leslie Fields passed away peacefully at Christopher House in Austin, TX on July 29, 2022 after a brief battle with cancer. She was born to Joseph and Barbara Fields (nee Quincy) on September 12, 1953, in Columbus, Georgia, while her father was an artillery officer in the U.S. Army stationed at Ft. Benning. The family moved to Sherman, Texas, after Joe's military service, and Leslie graduated from Sherman High School. She received a Bachelor's degree from what is now Texas State University and had a career as a legal secretary in Austin and then in Chicago. In later years Leslie returned to Austin to be closer to her family in Texas.

Leslie enjoyed reading, tending to her landscaping, and lunching with friends. Every few years, as a special treat, she loved to take a European river cruise. She was an active member of the Ridgelea Neighborhood Association and St. Matthew's Episcopal Church, where she served on the Usher Team and the Endowment Committee, and also contributed to the Senior Friends & Memories luncheons. She was very involved in several local AA groups, and she credits her many dear friends there with helping her achieve nearly 25 years of sobriety before she died.

Leslie is survived by her brother Michael (Carol) Fields, her sister Allyson (Steve) Hallmark, her sister Jane Quentan Piper, her sister Ann (Mike) Tobolka, her sister Marty (Webb) Sanderson, and numerous nieces and nephews. Leslie so appreciated the love and the support her family and friends gave her during her illness.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Barbara, her stepmother Carolyn Fields, her brothers Jeffrey and Lang Fields, and her sisters Gena and Kathy Quentan.

A memorial service for Leslie will take place at St. Matthew's Episcopal Church in Austin on Saturday, August 27th, at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Hospice Austin or the charity of your choice. An interment of Leslie's ashes will take place in Sherman, Texas, on future date.
