After graduating from Wampee HS, he married the love of his life, Betty Jo. They had two children and spent almost 63 years together.
After serving in the US Army, Jennings owned and operated Edge Construction for many years before opening Plantation Storage in 2008. He was on the ATMC Board of Directors from 1986 through 2001, serving as Vice President from 1991 to 1999. Jennings joined the board of the Calabash Fire Department (CFD) in 1984 and served as President of the Board from 1999 until his death.
Jennings was passionate about the fire department and played a major role in its growth. Through his time at CFD and other endeavors, he impacted countless lives. His kindness, compassion, and love for his family and community, was felt by all around him.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jo Edge, his granddaughter, Sara Sidelinger, and his seven siblings. He is survived by his two children and four grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 6th from six o'clock until eight o'clock at White Funeral and Cremation Service, 3660 Express Drive, Shallotte, NC.
Funeral services will be held Monday, November 7th at two o'clock in the afternoon at the Calabash Fire Department, 892 Persimmon Rd SW, Calabash, NC, with Chaplain Charles Fox officiating. Burial will follow at the Bethel Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be members of the Calabash Fire Department.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Calabash Fire Department.
