Married Martha Killian Cockrell in Siketon, Mo on 8/3/1946 who survives along with sons Wilburn A. Cockrell of Tallahassee, Fl, Dale R. Yancy and Herbert E. Yancy Jr of Ft Pierce, Fl and Cirt O. Yancy of Okeechobee; daughters Beverly Teitsort of W. Palm Beach, FL, Deidra Rappa of Ft. Pierce and Jancie A. Cook of Frisco, CO; brother OD Yancey of Sikeston; sisters Wanda Baughers of Sikeston, Emily Riding of New Braunfels, Tx, Siddy Swain of Chaffee, Mo and Eidth Smith of Mobile, AL. He lived in Sikeston until 1954, then moved to Mobile, AL. He moved to FL in 1966. He ran the first day care center in Sikeston and a US Army Air Corp Master Sgt in WWII. He was a building contractor.
