Basilio was a Salinan neophyte born at ranchería Tetáchoyhá in what is now Monterey County, California. He was the sn of Salinan neophytes Diego Cruzado "Ciuaych" and Balbina (no surname; SAP Baptism 00142-SAP Death 00227). He assumed his Christian name upon his baptism at Mission San Antonio de Padua June 5, 1773, when she was about 7 years old (SAP Baptism 00113). He died at Mission San Antonio and was buried in the mission cemetery March 25, 1814 (SAP Death 02516).
