Alexander was a German Russian immigrant from the Volga German village of Frank, Russia and Katherine, a German Russian from Denhaven, Russia. Elmer peacefully passed away at home on Friday, October 28, 2022 at the honorable age of 95.

Elmer was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and a friend known and loved by many over his lifetime. Those who knew him became well acquainted with his passion for working in the oil and gas industry for over 70 years; a history that includes having worked on the Koenig-Ashby #1, the first oil well drilled in Northeastern Colorado. Accompanied by hard work, he always loved his time with family, friends and other interests. He supported his children's interests and attended their activities. He was involved in 4-H, Cub Scouts, church activities, riding horses, square dancing and later on, a regular trip to Greeley, CO for a dutch hop or polka dance. He would have made an amazing horticulturist as reflected in his love of growing trees, plants and flowers. Since their marriage, Elmer and Jean loved going on international and domestic trips. Some of their favorite places include Germany, Ireland, Spain, Australia, Alaska, and the Pacific Northwest. Well into his later years, you would find him outside tending to the yard with his wife, Jean, or feeding and riding their horses, Leon and Pistol. It brought him great joy to drive into town and provide a daily delivery of donuts to his younger grandchildren.

Elmer loved sports. As a youth, he participated in basketball and football. His favorite sport was track and field, where he ran the 100 yard dash. In his late 60's he participated in the Senior Olympics in the 100 and 400 yard dash.

Elmer eased out of his company in 2020 which he started with his sons in 1980, Fritzler Pumping and Resources. Though his work history is not all-inclusive, companies he worked for included British American Oil, Gulf Oil, Chevron, and Union 76.

Elmer attended his school years in Atwood, Colorado and worked on his family's farm. During World War II, he proudly served in the United States Army at Headquarters and Headquarters Company (HHC) in Fort Monroe, Virginia.

Elmer was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Fort Morgan, Colorado.

Preceding him in death in 1999 was his wife of 49 years, Esther Helen (Wacker) Fritzler. He married Jean Renshaw in 2007.

He was also preceded in death by his parents, Alexander and Katherine Fritzler; brother, Victor Fritzler; sister-in-law, Florence Fritzler; sister, Frieda Wold, and brother-in-law, Reinald Wolf.

He is survived by his wife, Jean Renshaw-Fritzler; son, Gene and his wife, Timmy Fritzler of Fort Morgan; son, Steve and his wife, Jean Fritzler of Fort Morgan; daughters, Pan Fritzler of Broomfield, Colorado and Sandy and her husband, Roger Pape of Johnstown, Colorado; son, Nathan Fritzler of Fort Morgan; granddaughters, Elise and Maggie; grandsons, Ben and Lincoln. He is also survived by granddaughter, Melina Fritzler of Boulder, Colorado; grandson, Logan and his wife Vanessa Pape of Arvada, Colorado; great granddaughter, Kathryn and great grandson, Hank; granddaughter, Farin and her husband, Tim Musgrave of Johnstown, Colorado; great grandson, Lane and great granddaughter, Maci and grandson, Garrett and his wife, Kimberly Pape of Johnstown, Colorado; twin great granddaughters, Harper and Lydia, and great grandson, Clyde.
