Eloy Alfonzo Lujan, 88, went to be with Our Lord and his late wife Mary Jane on October 26, 2022. He was a devoted husband, wonderful father, grandfather, great grandfather, and brother. He was born in Canoncito de Manuelitas on July 14th to Prospero and Anita Lujan. Best known for his loving smile and kindness, he was known to even offer to sit in his great grandkids place on time out or to give his greatgrandchildren money for something fun. And all his grandchildren can attest that he always gave those treats and lots of love. He was always one to spoil.

Eloy married Mary Jane Espinoza at Our Lady of Sorrows 59 years ago. He always described his wife as "the best thing to ever happen to him". He adored her and did everything he could to be the best husband possible. In fact, his chair always faced her and he would gaze on her adoringly constantly throughout the day. Together they had a wonderful life full of dancing, laughter, and joy. In his opinion, life lost all its luster when his wife passed away and he was ready to join her. The last three months of his life without her were very hard, but the family believes Mary Jane was helping to prepare his spot with her in Heaven and was looking after him daily like Eloy always did for her. They truly had a model relationship.
A few weeks ago, Eloy was asked what he was most proud about. His response was that his son, Samuel Lujan was his biggest pride and joy. After that, he said he was proud that he never doubted his Catholic Faith. When growing up, he went with his mom to church most Sundays but the parish in Sapello was far so they didn't get the privilege of going every week. His mom made sure he said his prayers daily and that he often meditated on the picture of the Virgin Mary. When he was older he became dedicated to the rosary and went to mass as often as he could. When he was unable to drive anymore, he often listened to the mass on the radio and listened to the rosary daily. He also enjoyed his theological debates with his brother in law, Ignacio.

A man of many talents, Eloy used his God given gifts well. He worked at many things including being a rancher, a baker at a donut shop, and a maintenance worker for Vida Encantada. He would tell his grandchildren about different residents at the nursing home whom he would have conversations with in his spare time. He loved hearing about people's lives. Despite all his accomplishments, he was so humble he never bragged about himself. In fact, the grandchildren often heard him talk about how proud he was of his brothers working for Sears and the phone company more than he ever talked about his work.
Eloy lived a simple life but it was full of love. He was a hero to his family and always lit up the room with his laughter. He always put everyone else's needs above his own. Even when he was sick and not feeling well, he'd muster enough energy to play with his great grandkids and ask his grandchildren how their day was. He will be missed dearly.

He is preceded in death by his wife Mary Jane Lujan; parents, Prospero and Anita Lujan; siblings Jose Lujan and Maria Lujan.

He is survived by his son Samuel (Joann) Lujan; grandkids Samantha (Justin) Segura, Robert (Tina) Lujan, Christopher (Tianna) Lujan; great grandchildren Jacob Segura, Benjamin Lujan, Vaneska Lujan, Robbie Lujan, Angel Sanchez, Adrian Sanchez, Aaron Gabaldon; Goddaughters Danon Espinoza and Suzanne Lancaster Yeaman; and brothers Lawrence (Bonnie) Lujan and Orlando Lujan; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The rosary will be at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church on Friday November 11th at 7pm.The funeral will be at Immaculate Conception on Saturday November 12th at 9am with burial at Santa Nino Cemetery in Canoncito de Manuelitas to follow. The family are eternally grateful to Father George Salazar, Nurse Anna Rodriguez (Anvoi Hospice), and Dr. Frank Gallegos. The care that was shown to Eloy was deeply appreciated.
