Professional Football Player. He played the defensive tackle position for the National Football League's Los Angeles Rams, Detroit Lions, and Seattle Seahawks from 1975 to 1984. He played football collegiately at the University of Notre Dame and was a Second-team All-American in 1974. In the 1975 NFL Draft, he was drafted by the Los Angeles Rams with the ninth pick in the 1st round. He went on to play for the Rams for the next eight seasons before being traded to the Detroit Lions in 1983. In 1975, he was All-Rookie. Also during his eight years with the Rams, the franchise went to four NFC Championships and one Super Bowl, ranking top-five in defense every year from 1975 to 1978. He went on to play for the Lions for one season before signing with the Seattle Seahawks as a free agent in 1984. He played one season with them before retiring after the 1984 season. His career statistics included 42 1/2 sacks and 1 safety. After his retirement, he worked in the University of Tulsa's Athletic Department.
