Carlos J. Griffin, 73, of 209 E. Short, Independence, died Tuesday at the Independence Sanitarium and Hospital.
He was born in Puryear, Tenn., and lived in Independence for 33 years. Mr. Griffin was a bus driver 33 years for the Area Transportation Authority before retiring in 1976, and he was a member of Local 1287 of the Amalgamated Transit Union. He was a member of the Liberty Street RLDS congregation.
Mr. Griffin leaves his wife, Mrs. Lillie M. Griffin of the home; three sons, Johnson Lee Griffin, 3900 S. River, Independence; Vernon P. (Duke) Griffin, 3604 N. Spring, Independence, and Jerry F. Griffin, Poughkeepsie, N.Y.; nine grandchildren and one great grandson.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Speak's Memorial Chapel; burial in Mound Grove Cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the chapel.
