Son of Dudley Franklin Russell and Dora Ethel Bledsoe Russell. Dudley was making a casket for Dewey's sister, Betty Iris Russell who had died on March 6, 1936. Dewey and his brother, James, were playing near the road. The other children were warning Dewey to watch the car, but he apparently saw the wrong car and stepped in front of the one that struck him. The driver of the car is said to have carried Dewey to his father. He was taken to Kingsport, but died before he got there.

Gravesite Details
It is not known if Dewey's grave is marked in any way. His death certificate indicates that he was buried in the Miller Cemetery and this would make sense with family history.
