One of nine children of Ephraim Farley and Margaret McReynolds, Lucy accompanied her parents and siblings from Illinois to Iowa locating in Iowa County. She married Robert Jefferson Meenach in Marengo in November 1890, and the couple had a son, Donald Glenn, and a daughter, Grace Gene.

Lucy's elder brother Frank was the father of Cal Farley, 1895-1967, founder of Cal Farley's Boys Ranch, Amarillo, Texas. Lucy, therefore, was Cal's aunt.

Lucy's husband, Robert Jefferson Meenach, was the brother of Cal's mother, Mary Jane "Jennie" (Meenach) Farley. Consequently, Lucy AND her husband claimed genuine relationships to Cal.
