Raymond A. Farwell, 77, of Winterset died Nov. 6, 2003, at West Bridge Care & Rehabilitation in Winterset.

Raymond Farwell was born June 12, 1926, to Allen and Leone (Duff) Farwell of Zion. His marriage to Lois Bywater took place March 3, 1950, in Tarkio, Mo. She preceded him in death in 1972. He later married Regina Chadwick in August of 1991. Raymond worked in construction for most of his life. He also was a volunteer at the Madison County and Union County meal sites and received an award from Gov. Vilsack for Iowa's Volunteer of the Year 2000. He was a peacetime veteran of the United States Army, serving as a cook, and a member of Union Plaster Tinder Local 507 in California.

He was preceded in death by his parents and both of his spouses, Lois and Regina.

He is survived by a daughter, Donna Farwell-Murphy of Des Moines; three sons, Calvin Farwell of Dallas, Texas, Steven Farwell of Ft. Pierce, Fla., and Larry Farwell of Corona, Calif.; four sisters, Inez Bennett of Lorimor, LaVaun Wright of Stuart, and Dorothy Endres and Charlotte Forsyth, both of Winterset; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
