A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Park Cities Baptist Church for Louise Wall Sewell, matriarch of the Dallas automobile retailing family.

Mrs. Sewell, 90, died Monday of Alzheimer's disease at her Dallas home. She will be buried at a private service at Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Born in Grapevine, Mrs. Sewell was a graduate of the College of Industrial Arts, now Texas Woman's University, in Denton.

Mrs. Sewell's mother died when she was very young.

"She became kind of a daddy's girl," said her son, Carl Sewell of Dallas.

Her father was a Tarrant County commissioner, and it was while working on his political campaigns that Mrs. Sewell became interested in public service. She was one of the first women to work in the Tarrant County district attorney's office.

"She did so well at it, they asked her to come to work as the only woman deputy U.S. marshal for the Northern District of Texas," her son said.

Mrs. Sewell was a deputy for 10 years in an era that included the bank robbers of the Great Depression. For her first date with her husband-to-be, Carl Sewell Sr., she met him at the Dallas County jail, where she was dropping off a prisoner being transferred, her son said.

She turned in her badge to marry.

Mrs. Sewell was a member of the Dallas Country Club, Dallas Woman's Club and the Mary Ann Scruggs Garden Club.

In addition to her son, Mrs. Sewell is survived by two daughters, Jan Sewell Frajese of Rome and Susan Sewell Ferguson of Denver; a sister, Pauline Wall Bennett of Fort Worth; a brother, Sandy Wall of Fort Worth; and three grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Greater Dallas Chapter, 2910 Swiss Ave., Dallas, Texas 75204.
