Mrs. Jewell Newbern, age 93, of Adel, Georgia, passed away on October 26, 2022 at the Berrien Nursing Center in Nashville, Georgia. She was born in Lenox, Georgia on October 17, 1929 and was the daughter of the late Charlie and Maddie Bell Fender Duren. Mrs. Newbern lived most of her life in Cook County where she was a member of Westside Baptist Church and a retired machinist with Metal Products.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by four brothers: Charles, Ronald, Bobby and Donald Duren; and five sisters: Martha Nickel, Jackie Wallace, Grace Smallwood, Alma Cook and Mary Alice Duren.
The funeral services for Mrs. Newbern will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 29, 2022 at Westside Baptist Church in Adel with Rev. Johnny Hendley officiating. The visitation will take place at the church one hour prior to the funeral service. Interment will take place at New Life Baptist Church Cemetery immediately following the funeral service.
