GEORGE CROSBIE OBITUARY
1941 - 2022

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of George Allan (Al) Crosbie
on October 19, 2022 at the age of 81, surrounded by his loving family.
Al endured his battle with cancer for over 7 years with courage and resilience. His strong faith provided much strength over the past few years, and in his final days, shared that he was at peace knowing he was going home to be with the Lord.
Al is survived by his loving wife Leah (nee Botsford) of 61 years, his sister Dorothy Irwin, along with his children Cindy Crosbie (daughter-in-law Cindy VanVlack), daughter Alanna Crosbie, and son Allan Crosbie. Grandchildren Taylor Morrison (Jesse), Hannah Janssen (Mason), Holly Janssen (Jake), Adam Crosbie, Taya Crosbie and great-grandchildren Lylah, Rilynn and Waylon and many nieces and nephews. Al is pre-deceased by his parents Walter and Ormanella Crosbie, brother Donald Crosbie (Barbara Crosbie) and brother-in-law William (Bill) Irwin. Al was born in Owen Sound and grew up in the tight knit community of Merritton in the Niagara Region. He was very proud of his roots from this community and was an active member of the Merritton Lions Club and the Merritton Athletic Association. Al had a long and distinguished career with Dana Canada Inc. (Hayes-Dana Inc.) and was honoured to have various roles during his 35 years of service. In 1983, a new Hayes-Dana facility opening brought the family to Chatham, Ontario. Al joined the Moose Lodge in Chatham and was a supporting member of the Legion. In the early 90's, Al's work took him to the Durham region to manage a Dana facility in Pickering, Ontario.
Al and Leah were drawn to the near by town Port Perry and eventually bought a home on lake Scugog. This created the perfect setting for retirement where he could enjoy his passion for boating and fishing. It was with great enthusiasm that he shared these passions with his children and grandchildren. Al was a dedicated board member of the Valentia Church and Community Center and was a former board member and Deacon of Little Britain Community Baptist Church. The Crosbie family would like to thank the many families and friends for their love and support over the years, especially when it came to Dad's battle with cancer. A special thank you to the doctors and nurses at Port Perry Hospital that provided a high level of care and comfort during this challenging time.
Services for Al will be held in both the Kawartha Lakes region as well as the Niagara region. The service held at Little Britain Community Baptist Church will be on Thursday, November 3, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. Family visitation to start at 1:00 p.m., with a reception to follow.
Visitation will be held at PLEASANTVIEW FUNERAL HOME, 2000 Merrittville Hwy, Thorold on Saturday, November 5, 2022 from 12:00 p.m. until the time of Funeral.
A Celebration of Al's life will be held in the Pleasantview Chapel, on Saturday, November 5, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. with interment to follow at Pleasantview Memorial Gardens. I
