He graduated from Bellevue High School in 1963 before enlisting in the Air Force in 1965 and serving as a Military Police Officer in Vietnam. After his honorable discharge in 1969, he worked at General Motors for 38 years as a tool and die maker, and was a proud member of the American Legion and the VFW. Dave enjoyed playing cards, going to the casino with his wife and their friends, camping, gardening, golfing and going on cruises. Above all, David loved his family; especially watching his grandchildren's sporting events.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Susan; sons, Scott (Lisa) Stanley and Kurt (Eric Turnquist) Stanley; daughter, Heather (Matt) Briggs; 5 grandchildren, Alec, Paige, Tahya, Avy and Olivia; brother, Randy (Georgine) Stanley; sister, Carol (Sherry) Philo; mother-in-law, Marjorie Berrevoets; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Betty Jo King; twin brother, Jack Stanley; and grandson, Cole Turnquist Stanley.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at Pray Funeral Home in Charlotte with Kevin Stanley officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 am on Tuesday, immediately prior to the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to Eaton Community Palliative Care.
