Mrs. Phoebe P. Allkire, who came to Doyle gulch in 1879, died here Thursday at the age of 84 years.
Mrs. Allire lived to see the Santa Cruz area grow up for the horse and buggy days through the industrial revolution of the automobile and three wars.
She came here originally to live with her sister, the late Mrs. Harmon of Doyle gulch, and in 1885 married Charles Sairs of Capitola.
Following Sairs' death she married Samuel Allkire in 1909. He died about 1927.
She was an early member of the Grant school P.T.A. and a member of the Methodist church.
