Louis Alden Hollis was the son of George Edward Hollis (1850-1923) and his wife Loella Augusta Munroe (1854-1930).

In 1900, the United States Federal Census shows Louis, age 19, was a border in the home of Mary J. Wallen, at 8 Summer Street in Braintree. He was single and was a shoemaker, but had been unemployed for two months.

He married Ethel M. (Collins) Cobbett, July 2, 1904, in Brockton, Plymouth Co., Massachusetts. She was born about 1884, Plymouth Co., the daughter of Herbert Orville Collins and his wife Annie E. Fuller. This was her second marriage, as she had been married to Elmer E. Cobbett, September 20, 1898, in Brockton. She had a daughter Hazel Evelyn Cobbett born about 1900.

Louis and Ethel had an unnamed daughter who died August 6, 1904 in Brockton due to premature birth. She was buried August 8th in Brockton's Melrose Cemetery. They lived at 117 Pleasant Street in Brockton.

They had another child, Kenneth Vinal Badger Hollis, born February 1, 1907, in Brockton. He died April 12, 1994 in Rockland, Plymouth Co., Massachusetts. In 1930, Kenneth is found on the United States Federal Census living with his grandparents, George F. Cushing, 73, and his wife Annie, 71, at 19 Essex Street in Brockton. Kenneth worked as a printer in the music industry. According to the 1940 United States Federal Census, Kenneth, 33, was married to Virginia Allen, 38, had an 8th grade education, owned a home a 33 High Street in West Bridgewater, Plymouth Co., Massachusetts and worked as a Batter Cutter. Kenneth married Virginia in 1936 in West Bridgewater.

According to the 1910 United States Federal Census, Louis was 29 and rented a home at 60 Oak Street in Middleborough, Plymouth Co., Massachusetts. Also in the household was his wife, Ethel M. Hollis, 26, son Kenneth V. Hollis, 3, and step daughter Hazel E. Corbett, 10. He worked as a stitcher at the Goodyear Shoe Factory. His wife was born 1884 in Massachusetts.

Louis married Alethea Ellen Thomas, March 3, 1913, in Middleborough, Plymouth Co. She was born September 6, 1890 in Plymouth Co., the daughter of Darius Gardner Thomas and his wife Emeline Beatrice Haven. They were the parents of a son, Russell Gardner Hollis, born April 9, 1913 and died July 9, 1982, both in Middleborough. He married Caroline Marguerite Madden in 1938.

When Louis completed the World War I Draft Registration Card, he was 37 years old and resided at 162 Warren Avenue in Brockton. He worked at the Charles A. Eaton Company as a shoe worker. His mother, Loella Augusta Sullivan was his next of kin. She lived at the same address. His physical description showed him to be of medium height and slender build.

The 1920 United States Federal Census, shows Louis, 38, a lodger in the home of Ernest M. Disleg at Wallen Avenue, in Brockton. He is listed as a widower and working as a stitcher at a shoe factory. There is no mention of his son Kenneth V. Hollis.

The 1940 United States Federal Census, shows Louis, 59, married and renting a home on Worcester Street in Boston, Suffolk Co., Massachusetts. His occupation was a foreman laborer and the census indicates he completed four years of high school. Also living in the household is Mary Hollis, 40, his wife. She was born in Canada, English, and was not naturalized. Her education level was seventh grade.

The 1950 United States Federal Census, shows Louis, 69, married and living at 566 Massachusetts Avenue in Boston. His occupation stated he was unable to work. Also living in the household is his wife Mary A., 50. Her occupation was shown as "keeping house."

In 1951, Louis died in Boston.
