Born in 1944, Virginia was the fourth child of eight born to Adam Lowe & Mary Elizabeth Stewart. Virginia was born in Crewe, Nottoway, Virginia before the family moved to the Richmond area. In 1965, she married Daniel E Schutte and had three daughters, Dana, April and Crystal. She married a second time, in 1984 to James Radcliff Matthews Jr and they settled in Glen Allen, Henrico, Virginia.
Virginia and Jim are Jehovah Witnesses, where a memorial service was held on November 20, 2022. Surviving are her husband Jim, daughters Dana Schutte (Lea) and Crystal Lacy (Chris) and stepdaughter Carolyn Matthews. Grandchildren Aubrey, Addison and Ayden. Her sister Stella Strader of Reedsville, Va and brother, Edward Lowe of Texas. A number of nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. Her best friend of 50+ years Lois Chambers (Jordy). She was well loved by her faith community, where she spent many years as a 'pioneer', sharing her faith with those she met.
