Lawrence (Larry) Nathaniel Lattin was born on March 1, 1912 in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. to Nathaniel and Bernice Martin Lattin. He was a star when he was 5 years old in 1917-18 during WW1. He lived across the street from the Poughkeepsie Armory and made friends with the soldiers during WW1. He was their mascot during the bond drives and he loved it and they loved him. He hopped on their cars and trucks and would go with the soldiers to various events and would be their salesman encouraging the crowds to donate to the cause while standing on the side board. They taught him how to march and when he went to school, he trained his fellow students how to march. A natural salesman, he would go on to become a salesman for the rest of his life. He served in the Merchant Marines during WW2. He first married Marjorie Ruth Hunter in 1936. He then married Anne Hallenbeck in 1944 and they had one child, William L. Lattin. He remarried again to Regina. He died on Dec. 5, 1995. Lawrence had two brothers - Kenneth and Clifford.
