WATKINS Bertha Watkins departed this life to be with her heavenly Father on November 28, 2011.

She was the daughter of the late Levi and Mamie Smith Jones.

She was preceded in death by her late husband William Watkins (April 3, 1940 - September 4, 1984). Also preceding her in death were one sister: Essie Mae Morgan and three brothers: Shedrick, Herdy, and June Smith.

She is survived by her adopted daughter, Gaynell Harris; four grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, two God-children (William Watkins and Elouise Holmes), and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Pastor, officers, and members of Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church where she served as the Mother of the Church, members of Beauty Chapter of the Golden Age Club, Pastor Aid Club, and Universal Eastern Star are invited to attend Funeral Services at Greater Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church, 1242 Vallette Street, Algiers, LA on Saturday, December 3, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. Rev. W.L.T. Littleton, officiating. Visitation from 8:00 A.M. until service begins. Interment: Rest Lawn Cemetery, Avondale, LA 70094.
