Wasilla resident Amy Sue Patrick, 18, was found Oct. 26 near Eagle River. A graveside service was held at Aurora Cemetery in Wasilla with Bishop Brian Durham of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints officiating.
Miss Patrick was born July 20, 1973, in Apple Valley, Calif. She attended school in Shafter, Calif., and Juneau, and graduated from Wasilla High School in May. She worked for the Country Kitchen restaurant for about a year. Her family said: "She was full of love and life. She loved her family and expressed it in both words and actions. She enjoyed playing with her brothers and sisters and her friends. She especially loved snowball fights and would chase her brothers into the house to get them. Amy always had a smile and a hug for her friends, which endeared her to many. It was her way of saying, "You're important to me and I love you.' She loved the natural beauty of the Wasilla area and Alaska. She often said she would never leave. Her smiles, her hugs and the bounce in her walk were all special." Her goal was to teach in the Bush for five years before returning to the Matanuska Valley to teach and live. Miss Patrick enjoyed reading, dancing and music. She especially enjoyed trips to Hatcher Pass with her boyfriend.
She is survived by her parents, Dale and Francine, her brothers, John, Dale Jr. and Ryan, and her sisters, Dawn and Katie, all of Wasilla; her paternal grandmother, Doris of Shafter, Calif.; her boyfriend, Bob Marhenke; and many aunts and cousins. Arrangements were by Kehl's Palmer Mortuary.
