Samuel M., son of Cyrus and Jemima (Post) Hoskins, was born in Turin, Lewis county, N.Y., May 4, 1830, died Sept. 8, 1894. He married Armenia Schwartz, born in Essex county, N.Y. Samuel M. Hoskins, who died 8 Sep 1894, was a farmer throughout his life. He operated land near Turin and subsequently lived at Greig. He was a Republican and a member of the Methodist Church and served as school trustee. His wife was born in Essex County, NY and died at Turin in 1903. She was the granddaughter of Capt. Jenks, who was stationed at Sackets Harbor during the War of 1812. To Mr. and Mrs. Hoskins were born six children:

Notes. Research by Mary Gydesen. Samuel is actually buried in a numbered/unmarked grave at St. Lawrence State Hospital in Ogdensburg, NY (I concur). A master list of burials is maintained by the Hospital and available to family members.

In my research regarding his wife Armena, I found her grandfather was a Cpt of Militia in Essex Co., in 1811, but he was not stationed at Sacketts Harbor during the War of 1812.

Further research: Samuel's remains were used for medical research by the St. Lawrence State Hospital, no burial was recorded.
