Norman Clement Halloran, age 102, of Plymouth, WI, passed away peacefully on Thursday (October 20, 2022) at Aurora Medical Center in Sheboygan. He was born on June 23, 1920, the 12th child of the late David and Theresa (Wolf) Halloran in the Town of Ellington, Outagamie County, WI. He attended a local one room school house in the Town of Ellington. Norman was able to live with his sisters in Appleton in order to be able to attend Appleton High School, graduating in 1938. Enlisting in the Army Air Corp in 1940, Norman had many jobs ranging from a truck driver in the motor pool, KP pusher, guard duty to attending air craft maintenance school to work on the B29's. After re-enlistment in January of 1946, he was able to obtain flight status out of Westover Air Force base. Continuing his military career now found him in Paris for several months, transitioning to Rhein Main, Germany and Frankfort, Germany. It also gave him many opportunities to fly into Tripoli, Paris, Isthmus, Rome, and Athens. During this time period, 1947 saw the Army Air Corp renamed into the United States Air Force. He married Virginia Treichel on November 27, 1948 at Holy Name Catholic Church in Kimberly, WI. After their marriage they were stationed in Germany and they traveled throughout Europe. Areas of interest were Paris, Munich, King Ludwig's Castle in Bavaria and an entire week spent in Holland. His wife preceded him in death on December 30, 2018. Continuing with his flight and maintenance status, he returned stateside and re-enlisted in 1952. Since his family was growing, he discontinued his flight status and completed his military career as a Master Sergeant, retiring in 1960. Returning to Wisconsin, the family lived in Kimberly where he worked at Thilmany Paper. The family relocated to Plymouth, WI, where he was employed at Cleve-Pak in Plymouth for 20 years, retiring in 1985. Following retirement, Norman had the need to be active so he ran a saw sharpening business over 30 years, into his 90's. Norman was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Parish in Plymouth and was an usher in the church for 38 years. He was also a member of the Ladewig-Zinkgraf American Legion Post #243 in Plymouth, Air Force Sergeants Association, Retired Enlisted Association, Knights of Columbus #1789 Plymouth Council 3rd Degree and was a 4th Degree Assembly #1204 in Sheboygan, AARP driving instructor for 13 years and volunteered at Rocky Knoll Health Care Facility taking people to mass for 25 years. Norman and his daughter, Sharon, also had the privilege of participating in an honor flight to the capital in 2009. Norman is survived by his children: Sharon (Charles) Brott, Patricia (Bruce) Michaels, Dennis (Kathy) Halloran, Nancy Halloran, Daniel (Lisa) Halloran and Julie (Mike) Niver. Further survived by 12 Grandchildren: Christopher (Jen) Michaels, Jacob (Shannon) Brott, Angela (Michael) Kalsbeek, Cheryl (Alejandro) Lezema, Rebecca (Michael) Ludington, Katie (Cory) Bruckner, Carrie (Chad) Krahn, Sara (Justin) Rosenthal, David (Sara) Halloran, Ryan Halloran (special friend Derrick), Sean Halloran and Adam Niver; 22 Great Grandchildren: Evan (Helen), Alyssa, Maxwell (special friend Kaitlynn), River, Hunter, Alejandro, Thomas, Nikko, Zoe (special friend Noah), Christian, Abby, Nicholas, Kiefer, Eli, Sydney, Izzie, Cody, Carly, Kaden, Gabriel, Bryce and Cora; two brothers-in-law: Stanley Nahnsen and Ronald Treichel; one sister-in law: Janet (Jerry) VanBoxtel; and numerous nieces and nephews. Norman was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and siblings: David (Marie) Halloran, Leo (Marian) Halloran, Milo (Cedella) Halloran, Edward Halloran, Catherine (Walter) Kohl, Mary Ellen (Clem) Callan, Bessie (Pete) VanDinter, Cecelia (Ben) Courtois, Clara (Orvil) Novotny, Julia (Lawrence) Kampf, Theresia Halloran; and many brothers and sisters-in-law. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday (November 2, 2022) at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Plymouth. Visitation will take place from 10:30am –12:30pm, with Mass to follow at 12:30pm. Father Philip Reifenberg, Pastor of the Church, will officiate and burial will be in the Parish Cemetery. Military Rites will be accorded by the Ladewig-Zinkgraf American Legion Post #243 of Plymouth at the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Norman for the Priests of Life, St. Lawrence Seminary in Mt. Calvary, or Plymouth Knights of Columbus #1789 Charity Fund.
