Jerry Edmund McMahan, 75, passed away on Thursday, May 29, 2014 while working in his garden. Jerry was the second son born to Jack & Bobbie McMahan in Lindsay, CA on September 4, 1938. Jerry grew up with his older brother, Ronald S. McMahan (passed away 9/6/13) in Sutter, CA, which was where the McMahan brothers attended Franklin Elementary and Sutter High School.
Jerry is survived by his 5 children; Tamera (Rick) Daniels, Jerry "Jay" (Bory) McMahan, Bobbie McMahan, Shawn (Marla) McMahan and Jennifer (Adam) Main along with ten grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, sister Cheryl Ann Rinke, sister-in-law Patricia McMahan and nephew, Shae McMahan.
"Work hard, but play harder" can best describe Jerry's life on earth. He worked as a highly skilled machinist, specializing in technology and traveled the world taking trips for work and pleasure to Malaysia, China, India, Thailand, Cambodia, Japan, Hong Kong, Norway, Ireland, France, Brazil, New Zealand just to name a few. In his early years, Jerry was an avid duck, pheasant, elk and deer hunter, enjoyed hours of fishing and had a love for motorcycles. His guilty pleasures include good ol' BBQ hamburgers and quality steak, fine wine and authentic Asian cuisines. He spent his later years perfecting his gardening skills, planting the sweetest tomatoes, largest watermelons and many other fruits and veggies. Jerry took great joy in sharing the fruits of his labor with family and friends. A proud Republican, Jerry was passionate about his right to bear arms. Above all, he had a deep love for the Gospel. During his last evening on earth, Jerry honored Christ with his family by reading scriptures where he asked his granddaughter to read aloud Psalms 91 and 92.
The family would like to thank Carol Schmidt, Jerry's first and last girlfriend, for patiently loving and caring for him during the last few years of his life.
Jerry requested for his remains to be donated for Science research, which has been honored by his family. A memorial service will be held on Monday, June 16, 2014 starting at 2 pm and held at the LeBaron's property located at 7982 Pass Road, Sutter, CA 95982.
