Christopher Leigh Fleming
August 13, 1976 - October 20, 2022

Christopher Leigh Fleming never met a stranger.

Chris (46), of Bargersville, Indiana, passed away suddenly on Thursday morning, October 20, 2022. He was born on August 13, 1976, in Hackettstown, New Jersey, to Martin Fleming and Eileen (Goarke) Fleming. Chris married Heather Rebecca-Brooke (Miller) Fleming on December 30, 2006, despite mentioning his hat collection on their first date. She lovingly survives and misses him. Chris was a goofy and present dad to four surviving daughters: Evangeline, Kyrielle, Emerie, and Adelaide Fleming. A self-described "Dadalorian," he loved spending time with his girls, whether it was running them to dance or driving the whole family to Disney World.

He is survived by his mother, Eileen Fleming of Newton, New Jersey; father and step-mother, Martin (Kim) Fleming of Newton, New Jersey; sister, Tina (Karlo) Santos of Williamsburg, Virginia; father- and mother-in-law, F. Dean and Monica Miller of Camby; brothers-in-law, Rhett Miller of Camby; Thaddeus (Megan) Miller of The Colony, Texas; sister-in-law, Hilary Miller of Santa Monica, California; uncle, William Goarke of Newton, New Jersey; uncle, Charles (Ruth) Goarke of Lewes, Delaware; uncle, Wayne (Sheryl) Fleming; and cousins, Mike Goarke of Pennsylvania and Tim (Betty) Goarke of New Jersey. He was preceded in passing by his paternal and maternal grandparents.

Chris ruthlessly pursued knowledge. He was a graduate of Rutgers University with a degree in electrical engineering. He also received his MBA from Rider University and his master's degree in the supply chain from Michigan State University. At the time of his death, he was nearing the end of his Ph.D. program in leadership at Indiana Wesleyan University.

Chris loved to teach and lit up when talking about a lesson that went well or a new idea he was going to implement. He was a professor of business at Franklin College and the Leadership Curriculum Facilitator at Leadership Johnson County, as well as an adjunct professor for Indiana Wesleyan University.

Chris always had time for other people. Upon moving to the Midwest, he delighted in the receptivity of strangers to share a joke. He made friends wherever he went. He made everyone feel important and comfortable. Chris loved people the way Jesus did. He was a member of the Emmanuel Church of Greenwood, where he continued to show people the goodness of God.

Chris was a nerd about many things: board games, making wine, and Star Wars, to name a few. But more than anything, he enjoyed spending time with his family on their small farm. A testament to how well he lived his life is how dearly he will be missed.
