Edith "Nan" Buchanan, 97, passed away peacefully at her home in Frankford, MO on October 19, 2022. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, October 24, 2022 at the Collier Funeral Home in Louisiana, MO. The Rev. Richard Epperson officiating. Burial will be at the Fairview Cemetery near Louisiana, MO. Visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Sunday, October 23rd at the funeral home.
Nan was born on November 24, 1924 to John and Bertha Boots. She was united in marriage to Gerald Buchanan Sr. on May 20, 1942 in Bowling Green, MO. He preceded her in death after 61 years of marriage on August 28, 2003.
Survivors include 2 sons, Gerald Buchanan Jr (Brenda) of Madison, MO and Michael Buchanan of Frankford, MO, a daughter in-law, Sandi Buchanan of Frankford, MO, 11 grandchildren, Scott Buchanan (Debbie), David Buchanan (Dinah), Michelle Maddox, Becky Buchanan (Kevin), Elizabeth Haiducek, Holly Brumbaugh (Jason), William Billings, Jennifer Kennedy (Bill), Sheena Grigsby (Will), Joshua Buchanan, and Zachary Buchanan, 24 great grandchildren, 38 great great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind 2 very dear friends, Leota Freeman, and Martha Morton.
Nan was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son, John Buchanan, a son that died in infancy, 2 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, 5 sisters, Susie Grimsley, Opal Motley, Lena Daniels, Maxine Cole, and Mary Conner, and 4 brothers, Donald Boots, Lloyd Boots, Leslie Boots, and Walter Boots.
Nan was a member of the Salt River Christian Church. She worked in several garment factories throughout the years as well as Louisiana Plastics. She sold Avon and was an avid quilter. She had a love for painting and enjoyed painting with her friends at the Daisy Patch for years. She loved cooking for her family. Everything she cooked was always made with love and you would never leave her home hungry. Her grandchildren loved her oatmeal cookies and hot rolls. She also loved her stories, Young and the Restless and Bold and the Beautiful. But most of all she loved spending time with her family.
Pallbearers will be Scott Buchanan, David Buchanan, Steve Cole, Bill Kennedy, Joshua Buchanan, Sheena Grigsby, Devin Maddox, and Kenny Conner. Honorary pallbearers will be her great grandchildren.
